(Sonni’s note: I am reposting part of this from a post July 2012. Nothing has changed from then except that two more years have gone by, so there is at least that. October 2016 he comes up for parole again and I want things to be different this time around. They never give parole the first time around and they have made it very difficult for him this time coming up by not letting him have any education. He has to be so careful now. But even being careful doesn’t help when they use any excuse to file a case against you, real or false. The picture of his son is two years old, so I am adding one that is newer. His son is his reason for being. The one thing that gives value to his life. His one accomplishment. At least 3…

  1. Thank you very much for reblogging this. I will be back to read your blog. I write a lot about the children of inmates. I have two grandchildren with fathers incarcerated with different fathers. One is now 18, His father is habitual and probably won’t survive long when he gets out next year, but Jamie, in Huntsville Tx, the man I write about, is a different story. He is a school to prison victim, and spent a good bit of time in solitary when he was 17-21. He’s 32 now, and still in solitary. There seems to be some changes in the school system when it comes to locking up kids and I hope it continues, but it won’t be fast enough to save the ones there now. I just posted last night some articles about some of the changes you can find at the facebook page found on my blog. fb/jamielifeinprison. You might find them useful for what you are doing. In july I am starting work with an org called AVP Alternative Violence Project that has workshops in the Md prisons, but I know they are in other states as well. I have a post about AVP if you do a search on the blog. They also work with the Juvy dentention there. Md has all their prisons in one place since it is a small state. I also want to work with mediation with inmates getting out who need to be reunited with their children. Another person on fb you might want to look up is Peter Brickle. Good luck. There needs to be more of us out there!
